How to flash Stock Lollipop 5.0 OTA firmware through SP Flash Tool

Features of Lollipop OTA:

  • Android Lollipop 5.0
  • Official OTA update
  • Kernel 3.10.54+ build April 24, 2015
  • USB mass storage supported
  • OTG supported
  • Separate partition for app storage and internal SD card
  • Deodexed
  • 900 MB for system partition instead of 2000 MB. Less system partition means more user memory
  • 0.89 GB for app installation
  • Move app to Internal SD card support
  • 1.67 GB Internal SD card in 4 GB ROM and 5.28 GB Internal SD card in 8 GB ROM
Note: If you are using stock Kitkat ROM with stock recovery then you can update your phone from Settings -> About phone -> Software update. Or you can follow below steps to update through PC

Flashing steps for Lollipop OTA firmware:

Step 1:

Extract all downloaded zip files in PC. You’ll get 14 files in extracted firmware folder as shown in below screenshot

Step 2:

Open SP Flash Tool and click Scatter-Loading

Step 3:

Select MT6582_Android_scatter.txt from extracted firmware folder and click Open to load file in SP Flash Tool. It will load all files automatically

Step 4:

Select Firmware Upgrade from drop-down menu (1) as shown in below screenshot. Click Download button (2) in SP Flash Tool

Step 5:

Remove battery and connect phone to PC via USB cable.
If it doesn’t respond in few seconds then try connecting with battery (switch off mode).
If still doesn’t start flashing then check whether drivers are installed properly or not.
It may take 3-4 min for flashing. After successful flashing remove USB cable and press power button to switch on phone. 1st boot may take 7-10 minutes.
